Part Deux in The Great Tribal Sovereignty Canine Caper - How One "Daisy the Dog" led to The Filing of 3 Legal Notices Provided to 5 Separate Agencies to Protect Tribal Sovereignty...and To Return One Rez Dog Back to Her Family - Who's Hungry for Some Alphabet Soup?
I don't know how ya'll spent your Monday - but what was intended to be just a little driving therapy with some car karaoke thrown in for da spice ended up with a whole ass cornucopia (yes, I love that word) of legal notices being submitted to local authorities. Federal, State, County, and.....the miigwan (feather) in the cap of what I like to call "Makin' Moves Monday," Tribal Judicial Offices. Making moves Monday seemed more appropriate than #MCM (Man Crush Monday) as it would appear I have the biggest d*ck in the UP (Upper Peninsula of Michigan)...and I'm just a 5'2" little ole ikwezens (girl), or as one of the Sault Sainte Marie Michigan Tribe Of Chippewa Indians once referred to us during a public meeting of the Sault Tribe Board of Directors - a BrokeAHontus.
Yes, ladies and gents, you read that right. An elected official, another FEMALE no less, referred to her impoverished female tribal members as BrokeAHontus during an OPEN PUBLIC meeting of the tribal Board of Directors. Oh, and it was available across the United States to all members of the tribe online via Zoom. Did I mention our tribe has over 40,000 members? Wonder what sort of "likes" that particular comment got from her indigenous constituents and supporters? Assuming she has any supporters anymore. This is also the same Board Member who openly displayed a firearm during another online Zoom meeting, this one for the tribal school board. Methinks perhaps she lacks the decorum for public office, js.
I'm sure you're wondering what exactly a BrokeAHontus is? I know the tribal Economic Development Director was wondering when, during said meeting, Director Freiheit asked him if he knew was a BrokeAHontus was. Bless his sweet wittle heart, he said he did not know. I don't exactly recall her reply but does it really matter? Rhymes with Pocahontus, but starts with Broke....I'm gonna go ahead and go with disenfranchising an entire culture for a bag of popcorn, Alex? You literally cannot make this stuff up. It's like the Spanish soap operas, the novelas? Except, it's more like As The Tipi Turns...and Burns. Anyway, I'll have to take a look at the minutes for that meeting - that should be a positive hoot of a read. Too bad Pocahontas isn't REAL and can't guide me through the psychobabble of an elected tribal representative during an official tribal government meeting. -_-
Sacagawea, however, IS real and I highly recommend reading up on her - she led a couple lost white colonists find their way across the Wild Wild West waaaay back when. Sold at the age of 13 in a non-consensual (and GROSS) marriage to a French Fur Trapper who was later hired as a guide by Lewis & Clark, the aforementioned lost zhaagaanash (colonist) guys. Good times abound in Indian Country. She would later be adopted as a symbol of women's suffrage and independence. After she died, of course. And...the tipi turns.
Yeah - they legit put her on a coin, child on back NOT EVEN A PAPOOSE (infant carrying cradle), as a symbol of women's rights. And yet - a little over a hundred years later, Native American women are MURDERED at a rate 10 times higher than the national average. And tribal nations have to protest at a GARBAGE DUMP in order to get Canadian Law Enforcement officials to search the landfill for the bodies of missing Indigenous women after one was ALREADY found. It's the new form of tribal genocide - kill all their women and they can't make any more dirty savages. But, then again, how would you feed your trafficking habits and pipelines? Do a quick search of the Marlborough Hotel in Winnipeg, Canada. TikTok, Insta, and X have all been flooded with the video of the underground dungeoun found in the basement of the motel - complete with bar, black lights, and locker rooms filled with discarded clothes, purses, and IDs. No, still not making this shit up. Check it out.
Aaaand...for those in the back (ya know, the locals), if you think this isn't a problem in our Small Town? This guy Tried That - didn't work out. I'm sure it was an isolated incident, though. Except those updated charges....ongoing.....things that make you go hmmmm. I mean, I drove from Texas to Michigan in 3 days - twenty-three and a half hours in a car. With an almost 2 year old, an almost 70 year old, 1 dog, and 1 cat. Sorry, no partridges in a pair tree. But we DID have a child's outdoor play chair strapped to a U-Haul. Comparable? Meh. Still - 14 hours from Bawating to Winnipeg doesn't seem so long in relation. Js.
We could get real petty and dig even deeper. GUESS WHO this guy's DAD is?? Because, yes, I'm petty af when it comes to protecting my loved ones. Taking my 7 year old son's dog was the last straw. Jane Wick, bitches.
Anyway - GUESS WHO????? This tipi is no longer turning - it is positively SPINNING on its own axis. A former Sault Sainte Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indian's Chairman of the Board of Director's, Darwin "Joe" McCoy. Who....wait for it.........
RESIGNED on May 10th, 2011 - the SAME DAY that, a decade later - his successor, Aaron Payment, would ALSO resign, May 10th, 2022. I don't know if ya'll have caught on by now but the reason why Aaron Payment is referred to as Chief ThunderThief is because he is the nth degree of a Glory Hound, by any means necessary. He WILL steal your thunder. And your tribal funds. And your tribal elections. And your elder's dividend fund. But, I digress. He is also THE Drama Queens of Drama Queens. If there's a tipi spinning, lort knows it's his. So, yeah, in his last final GRAND exit - former sanctioned, censured, and fined former Chairperson Aaron Payment resigned the same day, over ten years later. Slow clap. But, get this - when McCoy resigned, Aaron Payment wanted to hold a Special Election to replace him. Turns out it was unconstitutional though, and the Sault Tribe Board of Directors appointed a replacement to fill the remainder of the resigned Chairperson's term.
But - PLOT TWIST - when disgraced former Chairperson Payment resigned in 2022 and the Tribal Board of Directors followed precedent and the tribal constitution and appointed someone to fulfill the remainder of the term vacated by the Aaron "PayMe" Payment - the Vice Chairperson of the tribe at the time, DJ Hoffman - the still wet behind the ears newly elected Board of Directors who were sworn into office on July 5th, 2022 passed an ILLEGAL resolution to REMOVE Chairperson Hoffman from his constitutional and legal appointment to fulfill the term vacated by the corrupt resigned Aaron Payment. And when I say wet behind the ears - I mean they violated our tribal constitution and bylaws ONE WEEK AFTER TAKING OFFICE.
On July 12th, 2022, 7 members of the Sault Tribe Board of Directors voted YES to violating the very document our tribe is build and federally recognized with - 5 affirmative votes coming from Board Members who had NEVER served before. They literally had SEVEN DAYS EXPERIENCE under their belt. The other two affirmative votes were Auntie and Neph team, Austin Lowes and Betty Freiheit. Not only that, but the five n00bs that voted yes to remove a legally appointed tribal Chairperson were ALSO included in the SAME investigation that resulted in the sanction, censure, and resignation of corrupt Chief ThunderThief, Aaron Payment.
Not only did this colluding and conspiring bunch of third string misfits violate our CONSTITUTION within 7 days of taking office, they also removed an esteemed and experienced tribal leader with a demonstrated history of improving the quality of tribal citizen's lives, most especially with regard to JKL Bawating Public School Academy, owned by Sault Sainte Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, which provides K-8th grade curriculum to both tribal and non-native children. Director Hoffman was instrumental in updating the tribal school to be one of the most sought-after schools for elementary enrollment, by indigenous or non-indigenous parents. There is a waiting list for kindergarten every year. But the simple-minded majority removed an ethical leader who has more integrity in his left pupil than they have combined. So, they got rid of him. Eliminate the competition, right?
Eliminate the competition for who, you ask?
Ding, Ding, Ding!!! If you guessed Chief ThunderThief's protege and the one he's financially backed since his collegiate days...backed in so so so many ways.....and Bat Shit Betty's nephew Austin Lowes, you win!!
That's Director Aunt Betty, in the lower left as Austin Lowes is sworn in. There's good ole Aaron Payment clapping away, such a lovely lady in red. I repeat, you can NOT make this stuff up.
So, what does this have to do with my son's puppy being repo'd by the Chippewa County Animal Shelter?
Because Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians Law Enforcement violated tribal jurisdiction by allowing a non-native state employee access to tribal federal trust land to illegally remove privately owned property from a tribal member residing in tribal housing, our family dog, Daisy.
And the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians Tribal Prosecutor refuses to prosecute our acting Chairperson Austin Lowes for sexual harassment of his subordinate. And the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians Tribal Chief Judge and Appellate Court REFUSED to allow due process and the right to redress to both Austin Lowes former Board Secretary (they illegally terminated her when she filed her harassment complaint) as well as denying due process and right to redress to illegally removed legally appointed Chairperson DJ Hoffman.
So, today, on Makin' Moves Monday, the following notices have been submitted to the appropriate parties as noted:
1 - Criminal Complaint to the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department (CCSD) for Cyberbullying and harassment by state employees via social media (shelter employees poverty shaming and defaming tribal members), as well as defamation of character by the shelter director for making slanderous comments to tribal law enforcement while illegally seizing property as caught on video
1 - Civil Suit filed with the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians (STCI) against the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians Law Enforcement (STLE) for violating tribal sovereignty and jurisdiction by allowing a non-native state employee access to tribal reserve land to process an illegal civil action against a private tribal citizen against whom the state has no jurisdiction while on tribal land. Additionally, the law enforcement officer did not prevent the unauthorized removal of private property from a tribal member residing on tribal trust land, therefore violating the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians Constitution, which has specifically adopted the United States Bill of Rights in its entirety, to include protections against illegal search and seizure and the right to due process.
1 - Notice to Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), notifying the Department of Interior (DOI) of the criminal and civil filings made against the tribal government by a tribal citizen, to include video and photographic evidence
1 - Updated to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) regarding the criminal and civil filings made today, to be included with any ongoing investigation for colluding, conspiracy, embezzlement, abuse of office, theft from a tribal organization, and denial of civil rights as afforded by the Indian Civil Rights Act (ICRA) of 1978 that has been previously submitted
And...it's only Monday. I LOVE the smell of justice in the morning.
Baamaapii and stay tuned - I have a feeling Sault Tribe Election 2024 is JUST getting going.
